Bressanone, one town with many facets
Situated in the Eisacktal valley, the town of Bressanone/Brixen is more than 1,000 years old, but is surprisingly young at heart.
Bressanone is the oldest town in Tyrol and is a bridge between the Alpine and Mediterranean worlds. Its borderland charm has attracted notable visitors for centuries, from Mozart to today’s celebrities. The cathedral’s iconic twin steeples tower over the old town’s colourful patchwork of houses. The frescoed cloister of Bressanone is regarded as one of South Tyrol’s leading cultural sights, and the Hofburg Bishop’s Palace with the Diocesan and Crib Museum is just around the corner. But within the historical town walls, past glories share the stage with contemporary pleasures. Expect interesting events, a vibrant cultural scene and a refreshing touch of modern architecture.
